Sanibel Has Arrived

It was fun to read everyone’s guesses from my last post.   Several people got them all right and it sounded like they were all people who lived in Spain or Italy, so no surprise there!

In case you were wondering, the locations are:

1.  Tapas in Madrid (Spain)

2. Andalusia (Spain)

3.  Plaza de Espana, Seville, (Spain)

4.  The Alhambra in Grenada (Spain)

5.  Costa del Sol (Spain)

6.  La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona (Spain)

7.  Nice on the French Riviera

8.  Monte Carlo in Monaco

9.  The Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italy)

10.  The Trevi Fountain (Rome)

11.  Vatican City (Rome)

12.  Can’t remember ???, somewhere in Rome

13.  The Colosseum in Rome

14.  Tuscany (Italy)

15.  Florence  (Italy)

16.  Venice (Italy)

All those locations doesn’t even begin to cover everything we saw.  It was a crazy itinerary!  I would like to blog more about it (not necessarily for my readers as you might get bored pretty quickly) but for me to be able to go back and remember the trip.  I have a terrible memory, so I am worried about not retaining everything!  The only problem with blogging about the trip is I have to enter in 575 pictures one-by-one.  I tried uploading them to flickr, but there was a tiny 10 MB space limit.  Does anyone else have any ideas for me?  I would really appreciate any suggestions!  I’m not very tech savvy and I know some of you probably are -

While we were gone, Sanibel arrived in stores.

Remember this fabric line?  I’ve blogged about it a bunch before, but this time I actually have some to share.  This little fat quarter pack could be yours!

I always give away the first of any new products, and even though I’m a little behind, I’m still going to do it.  If you are interested, you can just leave me a comment.  I would love to hear what are your favorite fabric/color combinations right now  OR the colors you wish were on the market right now . . .  (Please note this drawing is now closed 7-27-10)

With this pack, you could make 6 of these little toppers -

Or a start on any of these projects below . . . .

I’ll draw a winner next week, so stop back then to see the winner.

Would love to see more of your pictures, but unfortunately, I don’t have any good technical advice for you! I absolutely love the rich colors in your new line. Bright, rich colors are what I prefer and there always seems to be a good selection of them in the shops I frequent, so just keep doing what you’re doing! The current fave in my book is the rich teals.

Sanibel…the colors make me so happy!

  153. Nichole says:

I love your line! I love how the colors are so rich and saturated. One thing I would love to see more of is primary color schemes with a vintage vibe – similar to the palette American Jane uses frequently. I love how they can be for kids or grown ups, boys or girls, whatever. They are so happy and versatile and HARD TO FIND!

  154. Kate says:

Have you ever used Picasa for your photos? I like uploading all the photos there and then it’s easy to pick and choose which ones you want to send/use for your blog. You can also label/date the photo. Picasa is the photo piece of Google. (Love your fabrics – they are even prettier in person – if that’s possible!)

  155. Kari says:

Dark brown and rich tomato red, with some ivory. I’ve been into that combo lately and it is a little unusual. I love how cheerful the Sanibel colors are! I got to see your Christmas fabric at my LQS and it looks even better in person, and I already liked it from your pictures! :)

  171. Jandi says:

Beautiful! I love this line! Right now my favorite combination is blue and orange. There is just something about orange right now that I can’t get enough of. Maybe it has something to do with how refreshing a bright citrus orange is and it being so darn hot outside. Hmmmm…

And pinks and chocolates – bon-bons.

    *grin*

Actually, these 2 color combinations have been on my “make-a-quilt-in-these-colors” to do list, for quite a few months.

I’d love to win the fat quarter pack!!! Right now, I like working with cheerful, clear colors – not Kaffe, but not neutral. (Isn’t it interesting how someone’s name can conjure up a pallette?) The fabrics in the picture are exactly what I’m after!!!

But I’m okay with that….I am just excited that my daughter is enjoying quilting. I would love to make something in brights, and plan to make table toppers as gifts (I have your Living’ Large and Sizzlin’ Sixties books ready to go)!!!

  224. Elizabeth E. says:

I have a travel blog using the WordPress platform. I can upload tons at once (I just did twenty last night), by selecting them, then uploading. I do have to insert them into the post one by one, but I would want to do that anyway. My son, who is a web developer told me about that uploading lots at once. I’m sure he has another trick for inserting multiples.

Here’s I how do the importing: I use iPhoto. I select the photos I want, export them in a maximum 700 px size (on one edge–iPhoto recognizes that the largest edge will be 700) into a folder on my desktop.

When you’re in the “add image” section, select from the photos in that folder (since I’m on an Apple, I highlight the first one I want, hold down the shift key, then hit the last one I want–usually it highlights the range). Hit return as usual. WordPress will upload them to your gallery all at once. The most I’ve ever done at once is 27.

Until he’d told me that, I was doing it one by one. I use the travel blog to keep it off my quilty blog, plus I can refer friends to look at when they ask me about places I’ve gone, etc. Mine is at traveledmind.com if you want a look.

I also like the WordPress platform because of their tabs across the top–just like you use them. I use them for the countries we’ve been to. P.S. I’m still working on Canada’s trip!

P.S. If you knew all this–nevermind.

  225. Jeannie says:

I am thinking that the colors in this line would definitely work for me and the vision for the nursery that is starting to take shape in my mind. Thanks for the inspiration!

I am working on my first 9-patch and realize I don’t have many ‘warm’ colors. Anyway, thanks for sharing your fabric with one of us!

  283. Cory says:

Right now, Sanibel is my favorite color combination. The orange, aqua and reds with a creamy touch to them and then the chocolate thrown in. Oh, heaven. Thank you for the great give-away. Take care and God bless, Cory

  287. Ooh-ooh-ooh! Another fantastic line! My LQS had to pass on ordering it this time – I’d love to win so I can show it off (and show them what they’re missing!!).

What a beautiful line of fabric! It’s designers like you who make me want to start a new quilt everytime a new fabric line is introduced. You are so talented, and I absolutely love the color scheme that you have chosen.

  290. Glenda says:

I love give aways and i love your blog. Count me in.

  291. Kris S says:

Your fabrics are so beautiful. I love all the colors. The orange and blue play so well together.

I loved seeing your vacation pictures. I visited most of the same places many, many years ago and love seeing them again in your photos. My photos are so old and faded that this was a real treat. I am so glad you were able to go. You may go again some day, but it will never be the same as the first time.

  292. Chris says:

LOVE Sanibel!! My daughter and I were looking at fabric on line last week and she said “Mom I really like this line Sanibel, take a look.” I totally agree! We are going to make a project this week and this would be the perfect fabric. Right now we are both drawn to the bright pinks/oranges/ and turquoise of summer. A little yellow thrown in wouldn’t hurt either! :) Love stopping by and looking at all your beautiful creations! Glad you got away and had such a wonderful trip. The pictures were great. Thanks for the chance to win some fabric!!

  293. Avon says:

I love your colors, and your blog. keep up the good work. Is it to late to get into the drawing? I also like your tutorials and have used several with success.

  294. Bobbie says:

The colors are beautiful! I’d love to make a project with this fabric. You have great talent.

  295. Wendy P says:

Your Sanibel colors are gorgeous! I love the pink, green and aquas! I love these colors because it is Summer and I don’t want to think about Fall or Christmas until they happen. Quilts are so fun with the bright, cheery, fresh colors and prints of Spring and Summer!

    Please pick me!

My quilt tops are piling up because of boring, stupid necessities like new tires and bills, so all things fabric and the long arm quilter are sadly on hold. And this Friday is my birthday!

Does that get me extra luck? I hope so!

  296. Shelley says:

Beautiful fabric and the patterns look great! Thanks for the opportunity!!
