Pattern of the week Give-away

Double Takes II is the pattern that I would like to feature this week.  It’s a chance for me to share my love of charms and layer cakes  (I give other fabric options as well).  It’s also a chance for me to share pictures of my niece color options of the quilt.  I hate stopping at just one option –  In fact, if I had more time I would make this pattern up many, many times.  The large pieces lend themselves so well to today’s large scale prints, which I have been obsessed with collecting.  The original pattern on the cover was made with April Cornell’s line called Portugal.

I did my color option with a some prints from Denyse Schmidt , with a few Amy Butler prints thrown in.

Here’s a close-up of those delicious prints.

The mini quilt in the corner is made with the charm squares.  The original one is made with one of Mary Engelbreit’s lines.  My color options was made with Za-Za by Erin Michael.  I had enough charms in that pack to make a larger project (the fabs were to pretty to waste!)

I used this quilt as a background when I took my niece Addilyn’s 6 month pictures.

Check out those thighs – I think this swimsuite displays them so well.

This shot shows off those beautiful brown eyes and that dimple.  We happen to think she is quite precious – but then again we may be slightly biased.

During the photo shoot, she would periodically bend over and loudly suck on her toes.  I couldn’t resist getting a shot to remember that.  They change so fast and pretty soon she may not be able to reach those toes!  Enjoy them while you can, baby!

Now you see why I picked this as the pattern of the week!  I got to show off a quilt and a baby.  You can’t get much better than that, unless chocolate was involved.  If you are interested in winning this pattern – just leave us a comment.  I’m interested in hearing about what your current favorite fabric line is.  I know it’s hard to pick, but I’ll start things off.  I am just loving Garden Party, Pop Garden, and 1974.  Oops, that was three favorites.  Well, I guess you can tell me about a few favorites if you want!!  I’ll post the winner next week.  Again, if someone referred you, you can both win 🙂

How funny, the first two favorites to pop in my head are Pop Garden and 1974. I don’t think I can leave out Farmers Market though. I love the quilt pattern, and especially your version with Denise Schmidt and Amy Butler

  3. Laurie says:

Love the quilt & fabric – Addilyn, sweet-sweet baby with a great name! I just bought a pack of Moda’s Merry & Bright charm squares – a different look for Christmas, and so cheerful!
Another note – I used your tip for sewing on binding and it worked great – the smoothest overlap that I’ve ever put on a quilt. Thanks – I love your blog!

  4. diane says:

she is sweet! I love your quilt done with DS fabrics! mmm those red squares. I’m still in love with her line of those fabrics, probably because I still don’t have any of it…it isn’t real accesible whre I live. I’m likin’ Park Slope also. Hoping to win in Idaho!

  5. Jodi says:

I love the bright version of the quilt with the DS and AB prints. But the pictures of your niece certainly trump the quilt! She is so cute! It’s hard to pick a favorite, but right now I am loving the Farmer’s Market prints from Sandi Henderson/Michael Miller.

  8. John says:

I would love to win this pattern, as I have recently acquired a layer cake and some charm packs and I’m at a total loss as to what to make with them! My also list 1974 as a current fave, but my all time favorite line (which I think is highly underrated) is Joel Dewberry’s Chestnut Hill. I’m also a sucker for anything by Amy Butler and Heather Ross.

  9. Jenn says:

I just found you and isn’t your stuff cute! I agree that baby + quilt is about the best ever:) I’m actually diggin’ Farmer’s Market by Sandi Henderson right now. I can totally see that line in this pattern… Too cute:) Thanks so much for the giveaways!

  10. Jessica says:

I love this pattern! I guess I don’t pay enough attention to fabric lines. I know I love Moda, but I can’t get much more specific than that. I just pick what I like and don’t actually look–but that’s going to change! I’ll work on it…

  11. Tricia says:

I love this quilt with the darker squares as accents. I think it really gives it a good punch. I am in love with All about Color by Cozy Quilt Designs for Moda. It is great happy bright fabric.

  12. Gretchen says:

I love the quilts especially the ZaZa charm quilt. That is one of my favorite lines of..oh a few months ago. I can’t wait for Fig and Plum to come out from Moda soon and right now, I am making a jelly roll quilt from Portobello Market.

Is the correct answer D. All of the Above? Like your picks (especially 1974), also I’m really digging Nest by Tula Pink – love her, trying to get a top pieced from the Flutterby line. This pattern is really cute – I like the small version using the Zaza line. 🙂

  15. Heather says:

What a pretty pattern, I really like that one. I think I own most of your Little Charmer tablerunner patterns, they are so good! Your niece is just so sweet 🙂

I am loving the fall lines coming out right now, that means it’s going to cool off and be lovely, my favorites are the Pumpkin Spice by Buggy Barn. Also I love Heather Bailey as well, her Pop Garden line is so adorable and FUN. I want to make things from these fabrics.

  16. VIckie E says:

I like that one…although I don’t own it yet…I have sooo many of your patterns too 😉
My favorite fabric line that I am waiting for is Fig Tree Quilts “Fig and Plum” fabric….

I love every version of your quilt! The colors are so eye-catching and work well together! I think that I have most of them in my stash.

Very cute pattern, thank you for sharing some of the many options! It is just way too hard for me to pick just one current favorite fabric! I really like the bright florals that are out there, like farmers market and the new lines from Heather Bailey and Anna Maire Horner.

But then, I am also smitten with Tanya Whelan’s ‘Ava Rose’, and also Sandi Henderson’s ‘Ginger Blossom’. How do they keep producing drop-dead gorgeous lines so constantly?!

All the large print fabrics out right now just make me drool!!! Anna Marie Horner’s fabrics are wonderful and Sandi Henderson also . There are just so many out there right now and your pattern looks great with those large prints. I have one of your books in my sewing room with2 projects started in different stages!!! You are just great at what you do!!! Thanks for the giveaway chance 🙂 Kathie

  29. Jolene says:

Addilyn is adorable!!! I love the little eyebrows and squeezeable thighs! Thanks for the binding tip. I’ve started a (small for now) folder of tips. As far as a “favorite” fabric line, I’m pretty new to all of this so am not too familiar with fabric lines. I did stop by the Rogers, MN quilt shop tonight and saw a lot of your books and patterns (even a couple that I have). I’m going to check into some classes there and also learned that you have taught there. Maybe I’ll get the chance to meet you some day.

    Love your blogs!

  30. Beth says:

I am getting ready to decorate my son’s room, so I am currently loving Tot Town by Michael Miller.

Love the pattern, was referred by Molly at The Village Shop!

  43. Kathy says:

This pattern is wonderful and will set a new trend for me to buy those that have many options due to the cost of patterns. I’d have to say I tend to lean towards Moda designs when purchasing, but this pattern tempts me into new territory of the bright bold patterns. I LOVED your picture posted of you sewing on your deck…the perfect sewing studio in my book!

  44. Lucy says:

Wow this is incredible. I don’t know what I love more — your designs or your fabric/color choices. Just perfecto! I must always wipe up the drool on my keyboard after browsing your patterns. I love the big prints, but have never used them in a quilt yet — now you have inspired me to give them a try. I need a quilt like this to hang over my sewing spot. Just today my LAQ was showing me some panto examples and I found one with sewing notions that was darling. Then I come here. What can I say – must be fate. So now I’m on the hunt for just the right fabrics. Overall – I like fall colors and anything whimsical. I love that Tis the Season by Debbie Taylor-Kerman — I best buy some of it before it’s gone. Thanks for sharing your talents.

  45. Shayla says:

Okay so I don’t really normally like an entire line of prints, I just mix and match…but I’m loving Lila Tueller’s Woodland Bloom. I want t make this adorable quilt pattern with all Woodland Bloom. It would make me happy every time I saw it! Love the pattern…and of course the baby!

  46. Mary says:

My new favorite is Pine Creek Crossing by Holly Taylor. It just gets you in the mood for a new fall quilt.

Congrats with the Vikings win over Dallas. But sorry about there future loss to the Saints.

  80. Sandy says:

I have to agree those are some delicious prints! I’m always a little timid when it comes to putting so many prints together.
