Day 5 of the Fall-O-Ween Blog Hop

Welcome to day 5 of the Fall-O-Ween blog hop!   Today our featured designer is Terry from Atkinson Designs.  Stop over to check out her project and don’t forget to leave her a comment.

Our topic of the day is fall clothing.  As a knitter, this is one of my favorite topics (second only to the topic of fall quilts, coming up in Day 10).   Even before I was a knitter, I loved sweaters.  Good thing I live in Minnesota — I get to wear my sweaters almost 6 months out of the year!  There’s just something about wrapping up in a warm sweater once that chill hits the air.

My favorite types of sweaters are those with:

Beautiful fall colors:

Hoods and long sleeves

Textures

Pretty Yokes and leaf details

A few touches of Lace

And my favorite of all ~ Cables

Lots of cables.

Fall is also the start of hat season, so I also love little hats.

Hats to warm up little ears, like this

and this

Be sure to stop by the other designer’s blogs to read about their favorite fall clothing.

It is chilly this morning and anyone of those sweaters would do. They are beautiful and the knitting perfect. I personally love a nice quiet afternoon to knit and the sounds of the needles either sliding or subtle clicking is relaxing…….theraputic….Life is Good

I used to have a hairdresser who would always wear her knitted items inside out because she loved seeing all the textures – including the knots.

  13. Andrea Payne says:

love the sweaters. But, the best pics of all, the little ones sitting in the basket wearing hats, especially te pumpkin one.

  24. Jay says:

Here’s me, writing in awe of your knitting skills. Mom used to make beautiful Scandinavian-yoked sweaters, in godawful color combinations — so even though we wanted her to make us each a sweater, we dreaded finding out what the colors would be!

  25. Mary says:

My great-grandma taught me to knit when I was so young I don’t remember not knowing how but I certainly don’t have the speed you have! I’m amazed at how fast you whip out a sweater.

  26. AnnieO says:

Beautiful colors and sweaters, Heather! And you have a lovely figure to show them off. I’ll never have skinny arms again, I’m pretty sure 🙂

Those are some pinchable-cute babies too!

I just made two pies one to keep and one to give away with your brown sugar topping. I tried a piece and it is yummy!!!! Thanks I think I will be spoiled and not want to use a regular top crust anymore…. so good.

  30. Linda P. says:

I am totally green with envy!!! but, I always enjoy reading your posts and seeing those pictures!! Those babies…. just want to pick them up and kiss them myself!! xo

  31. Monika says:

I love your sweaters and the cute little hats! Beautiful. I love your quilts, too. (I have one I made from a kit hanging in the loft right now.) You have a wonderful eye for color.

  32. Kathy S. says:

Wow! Did you knit all of those sweaters? They are beautiful. You are so talented–knitting, quilting and being a mom.

  34. Deb C says:

OMG! Love love love this post. May I ask the designer of the blue/charcoal varigated one you referred to as the lace texture? I love love it. I am going to a sheep & wool festival and need to prepare my “shopping” list.

  35. Chris says:

I am in awe of your knitting abilities!! Each of your sweaters is a work of art! Thanks for sharing. My skill levels run to dishcloths. 🙂

  36. Jackie says:

Love your sweaters, living in Northern Ontario one can never have enough sweaters.

  37. What knit-o-rama, beautiful, beautiful sweaters, and babies (well baby and one shorter person, lol!)
I tried to get back into knitting, learned as a kid, got to the heels of knitting “2 at a time, toes up” socks and stopped, they were too big(wrong needles or yarn/thread or both) and they’re still just sitting there. glaring at me. wish I had finished them at the time or started again would be nice to have a pair of soft homemade knit socks…..but…….may just add them to the UFO pile…..maybe someday.

  38. dawn says:

My second love is also knitting! Your sweaters are beautiful! And the hats couldn’t be more adorable!

  39. wbotw39 says:

Your knitting is so beautiful….I’m in awh

  40. Nancy says:

Heather, your sweaters are absolutely beautiful. I can knit, but nothing like that. Now, I used to be able to crochet a doilie or table cloth that made other ladies drool but my hands won’t cooperate anymore. I can however make a pretty mean quilt given the time and stamina to do so. Thanks so much for sharing your great knitted items. I especially love the little guys wearing the hats!

  41. your knitting is awesome. I’m just a beginner.

  42. WendyB says:

Such wonderful knitting that brings back so many memories!!! My mother was a grand knitter….I, unfortunately, do not have that skill so I prefer stitchery and quilting….She loved cables too!!!
    sugary hugs

  46. Joan Rodriguez says:

Great work, I wish I could start wearing my sweaters, but summer has overstayed its welcome. It was in the upper 90’s all week.

  47. Tammie says:

    Gorgeous knitting! Thank you!

  48. Leslie Schmidt says:

Your knitting is so gorgeous. Would you like to finish up a sweater for me that I started 2 years ago? It is for my adult daughter, and she really needs new clothes. I was proud of the fact I had mastered the techniques that I hadn’t done before, but my hands start cramping up when I pick up the needles. Maybe I am just afraid to finish it and find out it doesn’t fit. And did I mention that I live on the east side of the Cities?

  49. TxAggie says:

Your sweaters are all lovely, so cozy !
I absolutely love sweaters but on the TX Gulf Coast I don’t get to wear them often enough …
I live for our cool fronts here !

  50. Lovely, lovely knitted sweaters. I can’t knit! And living in the warm, humid south, I don’t think I could wear such lovliness. But I do enjoy your pics and handiwork!

  51. Wendy says:

Until hot flashes, I had a love affair going with sweaters … especially cable sweaters. These days, glad I live in Montana and have a lot of long sleeve t-shirts. Had to donate my sweaters 🙂

Fall is my favorite also…..so many projects and now I’ve included yours to the list! Thanks so much for the pattern!

  57. Gorgeous knitwear! I used to knit a lot but got so fed up with having to resize every pattern I bought so I stopped. My friend keeps trying to get me restarted but between the web surfing, quilting and stitching, there isn’t a lot of time left!

Thank you for the pattern. I must try it when I locate the felt in the mess that is my stash.

  58. Your sweaters are gorgeous! You are so talented! WOW! And what precious baby pictures! ♥
