Usually I am the one redecorating, but this time it is my mom. She made a new quilt, shams, dust ruffle, and curtains for her room, all out of Artful Home. She also repainted the walls a different shade of blue. I love how it turned out, so I asked if I could share it with all of you. I couldn’t find a before picture, but here is the after picture:
The photos turned out a little dark, as I have trouble with lighting indoors. This angle is a little better. The bed skirt is black, so it really doesn’t show up in the photo, but it was made using Mom’s easy method. (click here to see a tutorial).
The pattern is Starlit Evening, found in my Living Large 2 book. It’s one of those quilts that looks really challenging, but it is stripe-pieced and all the diagonal seams nest. However, there are no short-cuts for making it king sized!
The shams our made using the “bound with ties” pattern from our Shams with Style book. The stripe is actually applied like binding, making it so easy to do – and that means you can totally avoiding having to do piping.
I also borrowed a little more of Mom’s show and tell. She recently finished up this quilt.
It’s called Patchwork Posies and can also found in the Living Large 2 book. The fabric is from our “Whimsy” collection that came out last month. BTW, it’s the perfect pattern for fat eighths or fat quarters.
That’s all “my” show-n-tell for now – so have a good weekend!
Oh my gosh…Heather, your mom’s bedroom is fantastic…love the colored walls, the white furniture, of course the quilt…and the curtains…I want a room just like it! And what kind of daisies do you have in your yard that are blooming so beautifully? Mine are all done now. I’ll have to show this post to my husband…maybe he’ll agree to paint those walls for me, and I can start on a new quilt…hmmm.
Heather – I want to come and stay in your Mom’s room. She did an amazing job with everything, and your fabrics are fantastic! I love it. Those are “my” colors too 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing!
So both you and your Mom have great decorating (and creating) talents Heather! Both quilts are beautiful and it’s nice to see a whole room decked out in your fabrics!
Oh gosh, just beautiful. The more you keep showing these gorgeous quilts it makes me want your book even more.
That’s just beautiful!!! You and your mom make a great team!
Your moms quilts and bedroom are stunning.
Thanks for sharing all the beautiful pictures. I got Living Large 2 a while back and think I’ll be starting a quilt from it soon. It made me realize how many large scale prints I’ve acquired. Love your patterns and fabric!
It is gorgeous!!! She did such a great job on everything.
Your mother’s bedroom is beautiful! I love the Starlit Evening quilt pattern — so intricate looking but apparently easy to sew. My kind of pattern. By the way, do you have a tutorial on making the curtains?
Would have been nice to see the before; the after is beautiful!
Loved your show & tell! The only problem with the room is that it isn’t in my house.
Your mom’s bedroom is beautiful with the quilt and curtains. What a great team you are. By-the-way, my friend saw the quilt I made out of the artful home line and she bought your book.
She is making the same quilt as your mom and decorating her bedroom like yours; paint and all. She is so excited.
Very inspiring show and tell…I am redecorating my bedroom in my mind as I type.
Beautiful bedroom. The red is such a great accent. The quilt is gorgeous (well both of them are.)
What a wonderful room. Just fantastic.
