One Month

I can’t believe Carter is now one month old!

The time has just flown by and he is already so much bigger.

His arms, legs, and tummy are filling out.  He is loosing his crop of hair, though only on his forehead!  It makes for an interesting hairline 😉  He is sleeping a lot less and eating a lot more.  He loves being held, stroller rides, car rides, the rocking chair, and grunting loudly.  He hates bath time, being dressed, and having his diaper changed.  He also seems to be developing a dislike for napping.  Two days this week, he didn’t nap more than a half hour the whole day.  Then he fell asleep at 5:00 and slept the rest of the night, other than waking up to eat.  Today he is napping a bit more, so each day is a bit different and I haven’t settled into a routine with him yet.  I’m not sure at what age that happens . . . .

He was a little more interactive than usual today, so I took these pictures.  Then I tried to push my luck by dressing him in a sweater and the picture session quickly ended.  It is really fun that he is interacting and smiling more!

A couple of days later, I tried a few more shots . . .

In these next shots, he was so sound asleep that I could have changed his diaper, dressed him in a frilly pink dress, ran cold water over him and strapped him to a galloping horse and he wouldn’t have woken up.  It makes for a great time to rearrange him in different poses and he stays that way until I get the shot!

For those of you who have asked for more Carter pictures, hopefully this will tide you over until I get a chance to do a little more photography!  In my last post, I said I would be back shortly with pictures of a quilt, but the quilt will have to wait until the next time!

Just found your blog this week thanks to Pinterest. Have enjoyed reading your posts and seeing all your photos. Congratulations on your new little one. So precious. Wonderful photos of Carter. They do grow so quickly. I’m a grandma now, and have been babysitting a grandson a lot for the last 2 1/2 years. Fun watching him grow and change and learn to do things. (My youngest just turned 22!) So nice to hold a little one again (Soft and huggable!)

What a sweetie, and isn’t it scary how fast they grow? Don’t worry about naps… those will develop slowly and become regular around 4-6 months.

  3. What an absolutely DARLING little boy! Thanks for posting these sweet photos.

I always enjoy your blog and your creativity! I have enjoyed watching Carter grow! I am a mother of two boys. I found the routine doesn’t really kick in until about the one month time!
I found this book, “The Sleep Lady, Good Night, Sleep Tight” by Kim West. It was a great resource for getting my little one and me on a routine! I have to say, I love the routine as much as my boys! She has a website too! http://www.sleeplady.com/

I appreciate you sharing this wonderful time on your family’s life!

So keep the Carter pictures coming. While I love the pictures of your quilts, your lovely knitting, your family, Joel and Daisy, I think every blog post needs a Carter picture. At least for the first year. Or twelve. 🙂

What a cutie! The first pictures look like he is shouting “Hooray”! Don’t worry about a schedule. Some follow them and some don’t but it’s all good. Give him a little time. Just enjoy every minute and keep taking pictures. By the way, you do take great pics.

  49. VickiT says:

OMG Heather!!!!!!!! He is just too cute. I just wanna grab that little guy and squish him and give kisses. I bet you look at him every single time and just smile. They are so fun at this young age too because it seems every single month that passes, they are doing something new. Our Granddaughter who was 5 months old on July 11th just started babbling and laughing like crazy about two weeks ago. She is SO much fun.

They are a lot of work but, those giggles and grins make it all worth it don’t they?
I’m still so happy for you two Heather!
