Angles With Ease Video

Hi Everyone –

(If you are here for the Angles with Ease video – skip to the end of the post)

I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and got to celebrate the holiday at least one of the days!   We had Joel’s family over on the fourth and my family on Sunday.   We enjoyed lots of good food and hanging out by the water.  My family has lots of little kids, so we set up the giant slip and slide.

We take advantage of our hill by covering it in black plastic.  We use a little olive oil and a slow running hose to slick up the plastic, then ride down on anything that will hold some air.

Rides down were rated for best wipe out or furthest distance.

Riding double helps with the distance.

We should have also rated them based on facial expressions . . .

I think Carter would have lost this one.  He had absolutely no expression at all.  I guess he prefered his ladybug floaty.

The giant slip and slide is probably one of my favorite things about the lake and it’s great to see the kids having so much fun.

One of my least favorite things about last week was shooting a video about my latest book and ruler.  We did demos on the technique at market and had so many shop owners ask for a video on the demo.  I put it off for over a month, until the last of the quilts were shipping out on trunk shows and I had to do it.  I think I would prefer giving birth again, as at least there is an epidural for that.  If we were able to edit the video, I think I wouldn’t have had such trouble with it.  I knew I had to get it all in one take – so when the phone rings in the video, about 7/8ths of the way through, I just kept going.  15 takes was enough for me and I decided it was good enough!

Okay – enough babbling.  If you want to watch the video, click here.

The video is great. I recently purchased this book and ruler while I was on the Iowa shop hop. I haven’t decided what I want to make first but the video is very helpful. Thanks!

Loved the video! I purchased the book and ruler and already made 8 table runners… they were super easy and loads of fun. Next up for me is Spin Cycle (because the video makes it seem less intimidating than I thought from the picture).
You are a natural on the video and seemed very at ease; it was fun to finally hear your voice!

    • Tina McNamara says:

I agree spin cycle looks very doable after the video. It is nice to put a voice to a face. Cudos to Joel on the video taping.

Love the video! I disagree about Carter’s expression…I think he looked duly concerned. Your home is gorgeous! Love the porches! Thanks for sharing!

Your video is great and your quilts are amazing. I’ll have to purchase your book and ruler.

  11. Mary-Kay says:

Great video and a great ruler! I really like the fact that you can use the ruler for more than 1 project. As I was watching the video, my phone starting ringing about 2 minutes before yours did. And then when yours started ringing, it’s the same phone that I have. A little deja vu! Anyway, I’m going to keep my eye out for your new ruler and book.

  12. NancyL says:

Great job on the video! I can’t wait to get started making something from the book!!

  13. Tina McNamara says:

Great job on the video. I was so intent on listening to what you had to say I didn’t hear the phone ring. Seeing all the neat and EASY ways to get the different patterns really makes me want to get your book and ruler. Thanks for all your hard work.

The video turned out great!! You’re a natural. I saw the same quilt I’m working on now in the background (Hip to (not) be square). I’m going to a one stop shop hop at the end of the month and hope I can find the book and ruler there.

  17. Sandy D says:

Very good video, This video made it look very easy. I will be buying the book and ruler when I can find it.

    Hi Heather,
I really enjoyed your video. I am going to get the book and ruler as I need to get out of my quilting routine and your video has given me confidence. I just finished the Hip to (not) be Square quilt (I used an old line, Urban Cowgirl fabric from Moda) and now I am finishing the Oh Baby! quilt from your Little Quilts 4 Little Kids book. I really enjoy all of your patterns. Don’t know how you stay so busy, especially with Mr. Carter these days, but I am glad you do! Thanks very much!

So excited – I just bought the Angles With Ease book and ruler. Can’t wait to make the Baby Juniper table runner with Christmas fabric. Love all the patterns in this book. Thanks for designing these unique and fun projects. – Julie
