The new patterns have just arrived from the printer so I get to share what I’ve been working on over the last 4 months. I have lots of photos, so I will break it down into a couple of posts over the next week or so.
First of all, I want to talk about my latest inspiration. Many of you know that I am a HUGE fan of precuts and have done many patterns and books around my love of precuts. The newest precut from Moda is the Mini Charm pack (sometimes known as Moda Candy.) I’ll be honest – When I first saw these, I thought they were probably a little bit too small to be very useful. The picture below doesn’t show the scale very well, but they are 2 1/2″ squares.

I bought a few packs to play with and see if that thought was accurate. As it turns out, I had lots of fun playing with these small squares!
Not only were they fun to sew with, but the price point is really good – under $5. Who knew you could buy an entire fabric line for the price of a latte!!! And trust me, the fabric is way more fun than drinking a latte and lasts a lot longer too. I love coffee, so that is saying something. I’ll admit, that my day always starts with coffee first, and then fabric (if I’m lucky), but the coffee just helps provide the fuel to play with the fabric in a more energetic and inspired way 😉
So I’m just wondering – has anyone else been collecting the Mini Charm packs? And are you wondering what to do with them?

Woven Squares – featuring the line PB and J by Basic Grey.
Yarn Over – Featuring the fabric line Somerset by Fig Tree
Ziggy – featuring the fabric line Persimmon by Basic Grey
The second pattern is Mini Charmers 2
Winding Road – featuring the fabric line best Day Ever by April Rosenthal
Reflections – featuring the fabric line LOL by Me and My Sister
Flower Girl – featuring the fabric line Fancy by Lily Ashbury
(Zinnias happen to be my favorite flower. And my shoes rarely ever match the photo shoot 😉 )

Trends and Traditions 
Love the Candy patterns. We did candy club for my group this year and it was great fun. Love your new patterns. They are very inspiring. Love how Moda candy doesn’t make me need bigger clothes too.
My favorites are Ziggy and I love Winding Road since my last initial is “S” and this looks like that to me. Would be so fun to win. Thanks. You do great work amid all your other mommy duties!

I really like all the patterns shown but my favorite is Reflections. I have used your charms patterns in the past many times for various table runners. They are my go-to patterns when I need a quick and easy table runner.

I’ve never bought Candy packs, but have thought about it, just didn’t know what I’d make with them! I’m picking 3 favorites: Ziggy, Woven Squares, and Winding Road. Can’t wait to see the other patterns!
I really like Ziggy and it’s a fun pattern for the Candy fabrics. It was really hard to pick my favorite as I also really like Yarn Over. They are all pretty darn cute!
Using fabric Winding Road is my favorite, but as a “woolie” Flower Girl would be the first one I’d make, I can see it done in the dark rich colors of the Zinnas in my yard, with a woven basket all done with wool with blanket stitch on a cotton (or maybe flannel) background.
Woven squares is my fav but they are all great. As usual the fabrics are beautiful and the quilting gorgeous. I think I like the simplicity of woven squares. Simple and perfect.
Hi Heather. You did such a beautiful job creating these. I love them all but would have to say “Flower Girl” using the “Fancy” fabric line by Lily Ashbury is my favorite.

I love these little patterns – I, too have a collection of Moda “candy” – I have been collecting the packs for over a year. I really love “Flower Girl” and “Yarn Over” however, I love all the patterns – I think the projects would make great gifts.

It’s a difficult choice between Yarn Over and Reflections, so maybe I’ll just have to make both! I always wondered what to do with candy squares besides just sewing them all together in rows. Thank you for showing how versatile they can be.

I liked the neatness of Reflections. I have some left over fabric of yours in Christmas colors that I think it would be fun to do this pattern with. I love my left overs and have had a hard time being willing to cut them up. Now I just might have my inspiration. Thanks.

Before I even got to the bottom where you mentioned the giveaway, I had chosen a favorite! It’s woven squares. I love how some simple piecing can have such an effect. All of them are wonderful patterns, Heather. Not such for charm packs. I’m sure many of us have loads of squares in our scraps.

The moda candys are so cute! I have a few my honestly I just can’t bring myself to cutting them. Whenever there’s a Candy pattern (Miss Rosie and Sherri from A Quilting Life have a few) I mostly work with scraps from my stash.
