Welcome to all the Jaftex Blog Hoppers!
Today is my day on the blog hop. If we haven’t met before I’m Heather Peterson and I’m the designer behind Anka’s Treasures. I been in the business of publishing books and patterns for the last 19 years. I also design fabrics for Henry Glass, one of the companies under the Jaftex Corp. Jaftex Corp. was founded in the 1930’s when Jacob A. Fortunoff started selling fabric on the streets of New York. At that time, the mainstay of the business was women’s sleepwear and lingerie. In the 80’s, Jacob’s grandson, Robert, dramatically changed the business of the company. The business focus was transferred to the over the counter quilt industry when Robert purchased companies like A.E. Nathan, Henry Glass, Stylemaker, Chanteclaire, Fabric Editions/Studioe and The Blank Quilting Corp. Robert is now joined by his two sons, Scott and Greg. Scott currently is the President of Studioe Fabrics, The Blank Quilting Corp. & A.E. Nathan Co., Inc. Greg just joined the business in late 2014 and has successfully spearheaded the company’s foray in to precut fabrics among other contributions.
As part of the Jaftex Blog Hop, 30 different designers will be sharing a project with you, made with fabric from one of the Jaftex Companies. The runner below is my project.
The runner was made using the Folio Basics Collection by Henry Glass. The grey background is one of the beautiful Peppered Cottons from Studio E.
The pattern is called Strip Stars and can be found in my Angles with Ease 2 book.
This runner uses one of my favorite techniques – taking a simple strip unit and turning it into something that looks complicated. The combination of the strip unit and my ruler, the Triangler, makes this block much easier (and quicker) than it looks!
I used some of my leftovers for the backing and binding.
If you would like to give this technique a try, you are going to need some supplies to get started.

What a nice runner. I find bed runners make a good gift without taking all the time that a quilt would – a few extra blocks and yours would look great on the end of a bed!

Beautiful Table Runner. I love the bright colors and how the gray and black really help them to pop! We’ve recently remodeled our kitchen and painted it the lightest gray to go with the gray and black granite countertops. Now I’m working on bringing color into the room with accents. What fun! I really like the gray for a background fabric instead of white. While white is crisp and beautiful when new, it often gets dingy and gray or yellow looking with use and washings. I would love to try your special ruler, too!

I love the way you used the gray with bright colors, and then plopped on a dark background to make such a visual impact! The back is so pretty I think I’d flip it from time to time to show that off. Your binding happens to be one of my favorites. I like to sew different colored jelly roll strips together to get a rainbow binding effect also!

That’s a beautiful table runner: I love the concept of the strips and then cutting the triangles out of them! So pretty, and I love the scrappy binding; it brings an extra sparkle to the runner. Goodness what a fun book and handy triangular tool to win! I previewed your book, and I love the Christmas tree and house quilt! Fun projects! I definitely like the way you used the leftover scraps for the binding….it’s gorgeous. I would love to get some small Christmassy quilts done, and some table runners.
