Trendy Table 2 Preview – Part 1

Welcome back!  It’s been 6 months (Yikes!) since I’ve posted and I’m not even sure if anybody even reads blogs anymore!  But, I’ve been working on a new book and thought I would pop back in to share about it.  The book is called Trendy Table 2 and here is the front cover:

trendy table 2 cover 60-0

And the back cover:

As you can see, it is another runner book.  I think this is my 5th runner book, but my love for making runners doesn’t seem to be going away!   They are still just as addicting and I love anything that I can start and finish in an evening.

Since there are 15 designs, I thought I would break my preview up into 2 posts.  I will share 7 of the runners today and the rest next week.

The first runner that I want to share is called Sew Caffeinated.  I have been wanting to make something with coffee cups and some favorite prints for a while now.  They remind me of a couple of cups that I have from Anthropologies – Cute print/pattern with a contrasting handle.

This shot was taken at my friend Maria’s house – Who happened to have this cute bike, sign, a vase with flower and a piece of cheesecake in the fridge for the perfect props!

DSC_8139 adj 600

This runner is made with 5″ squares, so perfect for charm packs if you don’t have a stash of coffee-cup type prints.

Up next:  Lucky LuLu – featuring an easy to piece puppy and my cute niece Addilyn.

This shot shows the puppy a little better –

This runner is made with 2 1/2″ squares or 1 Mini Charm packs.  The fabric shown is by called Wing and Leaf by Gina Martin for Moda fabrics.

DSC_7629 adj_PP copy

The next runner is called Stellar.  I have made so many things with stars, but I still love them!

DSC_7690 adj 600

I also have this runner in a group shot, which was taken in Mexico.  We went on vacation for the first time in 6 years, so I brought a suit case of runners with, hoping for some nice locations.  (Back home in Minnesota, the bleak, white landscape doesn’t work for any outdoor shots!)  We often got up and walked the resort at 6:30 in the morning looking for spots, so I wouldn’t get people in the photos.

DSC_7895 adj2 600

This runner uses 5″ squares or one Charm pack.  I used Simply Colorful by V and Co for Moda fabrics.  The background fabric is Yarn Dyed Essex Linen from Kauffman fabrics.

DSC_7636 adj_PP 600 copy

The next one up is Pathways.

DSC_7799 adj 600

Speaking of getting people in my shots, while I was shooting this one, a lady wearing a dress that exactly matched the runner walked through.  What are the chances they would match?

DSC_7789

This fabric line is called Midnight Garden by 1Canoe2 for Moda Fabrics.  Again, I used just one Mini Charm pack.

That runner is also in a group shot, with another star runner 🙂

DSC_7660 adj 2

It’s called Sparkler and uses 24 – 8″ squares.  It’s very easy to make and goes together pretty quickly.  The fabrics are all from my stash

DSC_8476 adj_PP copy

Also in that photo is the Color Wheel runner.  I used assorted 2 1/2″ strips from my stash, along with more yarn dyed essex line (this time in charcoal).

DSC_7661 adj 600

I used the Creative Grids 60-degree triangle ruler to make this.  I’ve written so many patterns using this ruler and I know a lot of you have it too!

DSC_7669 adj

DSC_8506 adj_PP copy

Last up for today,  is this runner called Woven.

DSC_7992 adj 2 600

With this design, I was going for a modern take on a plaid.  I have always loved plaid, but it’s been done so many times before so I wanted to switch it up a bit by offsetting the grey lines.  The florals are assorted 10″ squares – Mostly from Art Gallery Fabrics, but I also see a couple Modas in there too.

DSC_7770 adj

And the flat shot . . .

That’s it for today’s preview!  I always give away the first copy of the book, so leave me a comment to enter.  Just tell me which one is your favorite or what you would make first, and I will pick from the comments.  Check back to see who the winner is in my next post.  You can also enter to win a copy that I am giving away on Instagram, so check out my feed on the right sidebar to click over to my Instagram.  To purchase a copy, click here.

    Good job Heather!

  41. Lisa Marie says:

Wow, this book looks wonderful! The first Trendy Table book is a favorite of mine, so I just know I will like this one too. The Woven runner is the one that really struck me today, but I expect I will make a lot of these patterns once I can get my hands on the book. So glad you did this post, I still read blogs regularly.

  52. Terri Faust says:

The color wheel runner is fun! I would even consider adapting that to a nice big quilt for the couch. Thanks for the chance to win!

  53. Kris Pedrow says:

Another amazing book! All these runners are beautiful, but the coffee cup one will be the first one I make. My husband thinks it’s strange when I crawl into bed at night and say, “I can’t wait to wake up and drink coffee.”
    Completely true story.
I also like that many of your patterns take just one mini charm pack. I love picking purchasing them. It’s a littlle treat that doesn’t break the bank, or need a huge commitment to complete a project.
I’m looking forward to your next post, too.

    • Kath S says:

I know just what that’s like! I go even a little farther over the edge and wake up in the middle of the night and have to go for a cup or two before crawling back in. Fortunately, there haven’t been any problems caused by doing this.

  54. Patty B. says:

What pretty and fun table runners in your new book. I really like the coffee cups runner- so bright and springy looking. Thanks for the chance. Patty B.

  79. Kath S says:

I’m really liking what I’ve seen of The Trending Table 2 so far, and while I may make every runner eventually, I’d have to start with Stellar and Sew Caffeinated. Stellar because I’ve a special stash of V&Co. perfect for this; and, Sew Caffeinated is an appropriate description of me most any time – oh, and I do love those coffee mugs! (I just can’t figure out how I missed the original The Trendy Table!). Keep blogging

  80. Very hard to choose just one, but Stellar really caught my eye so it has to be first. 😉 Thanks for the fun!! And welcome back to blogging! I missed you!!

  81. Ruth Stover says:

    I love the sparkler tablerunner.
My husband was a Vietnam Veteran so whenever I make something with stars it in his honor. A disease caused by Agent Orange took his life. Sewing is my therapy and my grandchildren help fill the void. I love your books.

  82. Mette says:

The Puppy Runner with a charcoal Essex linen for the puppy would be my first project from your new book — I’ve been a Schnauzer mom for 23 years, after all! Loved Trendy Table I, have it out to make the Plus runner again 😉 That book inspired me to try the Essex linen so I now use it any time I can. Thanks for your beautiful work and for sharing your adorable boys on your blog. BTW, the way you quilted Sew Caffeinated is fabulous!

  88. Barbara says:

WoW!!! I love them all but I think I would first make the “sew caffeinated “ runner.

  89. Jacqueline P says:

I have to say Stellar is my favorite! I love the star motif and just by changing the fabrics this pattern will give you so many versions.

  90. Sandy Carlson says:

Stars and flowers get me! Love your runners – you have such a great eye for color combinations!

  91. Deb G in VA says:

I love stars too! I would have to start with Stellar and Sparkler!

  94. Shirley JB says:

    Color Wheel!

  96. Linda R says:

I love the Woven runner. Your choice of colors are great. I would love to win your new book. I have been a fan of yours for a very long time. I have most of your patterns and books.
    Crossing my fingers!

  97. Lori Koltun says:

When I saw your book on your Instagram account, I looked at the table runners in the picture on the cover and fell in love with your book based on that picture alone. Seeing this preview on your blog has only strengthened my desire to get this book. All of the table runners are fantastic and your pictures are amazing! It was a really smart idea to take the table runners on vacation with you so that you could take advantage of the location to photograph them. The colors / fabrics in the runners themselves are so vibrant, fitting in perfectly with the vegetation and surrounding area where you stayed. You asked which one I’d make first? As much as I love all of the designs, I would make Stellar first – to give as a gift – and then Sew Caffeinated – for myself and possibly a couple of extras for the coffee lovers in my life. I can’t wait to see your second preview post and want to thank you for the opportunity to win a copy of your book. I think that I’ll be purchasing more than one of your books in the very near future. Blessings!

  98. Bonnie says:

I would make Pathways. I especially like your photos with the lady that matches your table runner.
I like the colors you used.

  99. Amy L says:

Hands down, it’s Lucky Lulu! And I would make a whole quilt out of her!

  100. Linda says:

I have to make the doggy runner and the coffee one…..I am so excited to see these projects..thanks for the chance to win…

  101. Mary Hickey says:

Hi. It is so good to see your new book of table runners. I love your other books and I have made them all the time. The first one I would make is Stellar then Woven. My daughter would make the dog one first. Lol. I also like the coffee one but I would make it for hot chocolate. Don’t like coffee, lol. Happy Mother’s Day.

  102. I love your table runners and look forward to getting the book. That bright sunny Mexico background is gorgeous too – hope you enjoyed your vacation!

  103. Mary Coykendall says:

Hard to choose just one! I like both star runners and the hexie one.

  104. Rachael says:

    Sew Caffeinated is my favorite!

  105. Sheryl says:
