Thank you to all who stopped by for my last post and left comments! It was so fun to “see” so many familiar faces again after my long break! I have read all your comments, even if I haven’t had time to respond to them. Life is really busy right now, with Quilt Market being a week away. Yikes!
Today I would like to continue with introducing the designs in the new book, Simple Treasures. You can see the first set of quilts in my previous post here. Below are a few more quilts that I can share, along with a book giveaway at the end of the post.
First up, Spinning Stars.
This lovely young lady (yes – how did she get so grown up?), is my niece Addi. She’s been a willing poser since she was a baby and let her lick the frosting off the props (cupcakes) and now she does it just to help me out 🙂
My goal with this pattern was to come up with a design that would use every print in a layer cake or 10″ square pack. So often I end up leaving out the cream prints or coming up with a design where you have to add a contrast fabric. In this case, there is no waste because the design works with all of the prints in the pack.
The instructions also include an option to use Fat Quarters, with a cutting diagram included for both Precuts.
The fabric is from the “In the Meadow” line by Keera Job for Riley Blake Designs.
And as you can see, there was a lot of snow on the ground when we shot this, so she needed a little warm up after the photo shoot 🙂
There are several size options for this design in the book, including this runner that uses solid fabric for stars to really make them pop.
Second, we have the Super Star quilt. This design was inspired by my love of barn quilts. They are so popular right now, so I’m sure I’m not the only one that loves them! This design is simple, fairly quick to sew and uses one 5″ charm pack, a background, and a contrast print.
This fabric is called Moving on Lawns by Jen Kingwell for Moda Fabrics. I added the black solid and the Moda black Crossweave for the background.
The close-up of the quilting design – Just an all over feather and swirl.
My readers know that I love seeing the same quilt in different color combinations, so I’ve also included a version with a light background in the book. This fabric is called Rhapsody by Sedef Imer for Riley Blake fabrics. I loved this line so I have another quilt that I will be showing in a future post with these beautiful prints.
Another shot of this quilt that made the book is this one – photographed with the Easy Peasy Plaid quilt. It’s the same quilt that I show on the back cover of the book (see my last post and the photos with my boys), but it looks so different with a teal background.
These fun prints are from Lori Holt’s new fabric line called Granny Chic, also for Riley Blake fabrics.
As I mentioned in my last post, this pattern is Jelly Roll and Fat Eighth friendly. It comes in 6 sizes from crib to queen. This will easily become my new go-to Jelly Roll pattern – It’s quick to make, easy to sew, and just takes a jelly roll and background fabric. This version also includes an optional border.
Back to the Super Star Quilt that I was showing when I got side tracked with the group shot of the Super Star and the Easy Peasy Plaid quilt together . . . . I’ve also included a bigger version of the Super Star quilt, made with 10″ squares or Fat Eighths.
The fabric is a sneak peek of my new line, Wildflower Boutique, which I will be sharing more about in my next post.
A few close ups of the quilting –
So, in case you hadn’t already guessed it, my new fabric line with be showing with a new company, Riley Blake Designs. I had previously been designing for Henry Glass Fabrics, where I had done over 20 collections during the past 15 years. I am grateful for my time there and will miss working with Karen, my design director. After a peaceful parting, I am happy to be back to doing my florals. So, stop back soon to see more! In the meantime, here is a closer look at the main floral.
Lastly, I would like to give away two copies of the new book. It’s available for shipping now, so just leave me a comment to be entered to win. I will announce the winners in my next post.
Thanks again for stopping by and have a great day!

I’ve followed your quilting since you were creating through all your years of quilting . It’s been so much fun to be watching in amazement at your continued talent. Please never stop. Color and patterns are always changing and I love it all.
I hope I never have to stop! The market is really changing, so it is harder for designers in the business now but I still love it!!! Thanks again for your nice comments – so encouraging right now when it takes some courage to put yourself out there with you new things!
