Here Fishy Fishy

Today is a fun day for me.  I get to spill a few more beans about my fabric line that comes out next summer.   The reason that I am sharing this now, is that the line is out on the road with the Henry Glass fabric reps and I wanted to give the shop owners a head-ups that it is available for order.

The line is called Here Fishy, Fishy.  (I will explain the name a little further down in the post.)

I had a lot of inspiration for this line!  At the time I painted this up, I knew we were pregnant with a boy.  I asked Joel what type of baby quilt he would like for our son.   As an avid (obsessed) fisherman, his request was something with fish.  I designed a quilt with fish (his favorite thing) and Chevrons (one of my favorite things).

(This quilt pattern can be found in my Little Quilts for Little Kids book)

I had so much fun with this quilt, that when Henry Glass asked me to design a kids line, I used it as inspiration for the line.  I wanted the line to include a few fish related prints – like bobbers, waves, and bubbles.  I also wanted to include a few generic prints like dots, plaids, and a houndstooth.  Those thoughts became the images you see below. (Sorry the lighting is so bad in these shots.  Winter in MN can mean some pretty dark days!)

The line also includes this cute panel print.  I will definitely be working on coming up with some cute used for this panel – probably by cutting it up into squares.

Getting back to the name of the line – This was also inspired by my husband.  He has a tendency to talk in his sleep.  One night in bed, he rolled over, cuddled up to me and said “Here Fishy, Fishy”.  Let’s just say that he has never lived that one down!   Now his midnight mumblings have become public with the naming of this fabric line.

How’s that for a unique source of inspiration?

Shop owners:  If you are interested in ordering the line, but don’t have a Henry Glass rep, you can contact me at hmulder@wecnet.com OR you can order through the HG distributors – Checker, EE Schenck, Troy, Needlecraft or Brewer.

Friday Finish – More Summer House Quilts

DSC_1395 adj

Amidst the business of the holidays, I have been sneaking in some sewing time with my Summer House fabrics.   I have also passed on some of the fabrics to my Mom and she made this runner.

It’s called “Modern Day Diamonds” and can be found in my Living Large book, which came out a few years ago.  Click here to view the book.

I will be offering kits of this runner, as soon as the bolts show up (which could be any day now).

It’s a very long runner, which works really nice on a rectangular table.

You can see this a little better in this shot, which features my Artful Home Fabric.  I always love a good color option!

(You can see more pictures of this version here or order a kit here)

We also finished up a “Spaghetti Junction” quilt in the Summer House fabrics.  It’s been pretty dark and gloomy in Minnesota on many of these winter days, so it has been hard to get a decent photo.  I will try again on another day. . . .

By the way, this pattern can be found in my Living Large 2 book.

My favorite prints from the line are these two border prints.   Yum!

I hear Carter waking up now, so I better wrap this up.  Have a great weekend!

Merry Christmas

2012 christmas cardJoel and I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas!  – even if it is a few days late.   We have been so busy getting ready for Christmas and going to family get-togethers that I haven’t taken time to blog.  We have the day off from celebrating today before more parties on Friday and Sunday (some Christmas and some birthdays), so I really wanted to squeeze this in.  We appreciate you stopping by to visit.  I especially appreciate all of your nice comments and encouragement throughout the year.  This year has been extra special, as we have been able to share our excitement about our little Carter with you!  I can tell many of you are so happy for us and we appreciate that too!  As you can see, we plastered our Christmas card with more photos of Carter, as I couldn’t pic just one photo (kind of like this blog!)

And just a little note about our coats – Remember this post, where I made fun of Joel for his coats?  There was an overwhelming response from people in favor of Joel’s coats, so Carter and I decided if you can’t beat ’em – join ’em!

We hope your Holidays were great and Happy New Year to you as well!
