Max’s 3 Month Pics

So – picking up where I left off last time with Max – at around 6 weeks.

I had a professional photographer lined up to come out and take Max’s newborn pictures.  But, since he was born a couple of weeks early, Max wasn’t looking so newborn anymore!  As you can see, he was already filling out.

The photographer tried really hard to get him sleeping, so we could get some sleeping newborn(ish) pictures, but he just wouldn’t fall asleep.  Wouldn’t you know, a couple of days later I got this shot of him sleeping.  The face is priceless, but unfortunately he was wearing an old sleeper and the setting wasn’t professional looking.  I think it looks best in black and white to cover up for some of that.  But seriously, look at that face . . . .

The professional also got this shot of us together.  I thought I should post this one because so many of my blog readers think Carter looks just like his dad.  In this shot, you can see there is a little of me in there also.

The photo below is taken when Max is closer to 2 months.  I have shown a bunch of other photos of him at around this same age in previous posts so I will skip ahead to 3 month pictures.

I don’t have nearly as many pictures of Max, as I do of Carter at this same age.  It’s been a little harder to get him to smile for the camera, and I just don’t have as much time to be constantly snapping photos.  Max has been a very good baby though, so it’s not that.  He smiles, coos, and talks a lot, but somehow it’s just never when the camera is out.  I will have to keep trying!

My most recent knitting project has been the monster booties in the photo  above and the monster softie in the photo below.

Yes, I am that dorky, but then again, you probably knew that.  I just couldn’t resist making it for him.  Plus, my husband says I better do it now while he is still too young to voice an opinion about having to wear all the dorky hand-made things. (You can find more details about the monster stuff on my Ravelry page).

Max’s favorite things to do right now are eat, sit up so he can see what is going on, and kick (as shown in the photo below).  He is also a pretty good sleeper.  He almost slept through the last night – if you call 5:30 am sleeping through the night – which I don’t.  He has to make it to at least 6:30 before he is officially sleeping through the night.  I really don’t mind getting up once a night with him.  He is usually extra cuddly at that time of night – all sleepy and in his soft footie pajamas.  Pretty soon cuddles will be few and far between, so I take advantage 😉

These last two shots were taken this morning.  I think they pretty much capture his little personality right now.  He just lights up whenever you talk to him or give him a few smiles.

A Flair for Fabric Blog Hop

In October of 2012, the designers from Henry Glass were asked to participate in making a project for a book.  The idea came about as the Henry Glass crew was sitting in a restaurant, wondering about their flights home from Quilt Market.  Hurricane Sandy was about to hit the East Coast – and as you know, the storm did severe damage. Our fellow HG designer Linda Lum DeBono got everyone on board and put in lots of hard work getting this book together.  The Henry Glass designers donated their designs and all royalties will be donated to the Red Cross to help with the cause.  The book is called “A Flair for Fabric.”

The designers and the projects that they contributed are shown below.

To help celebrate the book, we are having a blog hop.  There will be lots of tips about one of our favorite topics – fabric!  Join each designer on their designated day to hear their tips and have a chance to win fabric and an ecopy of the book.  Here is our schedule:

Tuesday, November 18: Launch at Martingale’s Stitch This! blog

Remember a couple blog posts back where I talked about enjoying fall?

DSC_3839

Well it’s already over 😦    Beyond those windows it is a total white out.  There is about 12″ of fresh snow on the ground and the wind is howling at 20 mph.  This is really early folks.  I am going to need lots of quilting therapy to make it through winter if it starts this early #%*#$^@*!!!!

DSC_3835

My therapy is starting today, as I work on this quilt.  I just took it off the quilting machine and I am auditioning several prints for binding.

The quilt is  based on a runner from my last book – On the Run Again.  You can see the runner below.  It was one of my favorite things from the book, so I knew I would want to make it into a quilt some day.

If you have the book, just make the blocks as directed and instead of cutting just blue half triangles, you will also need to cut some blue full triangles.

I also wanted to share a few pictures of the boys today.  Many of you have sweetly asked to see some pictures of them together.   Despite that being a really challenging task to get them to both cooperate, I actually have a couple to share today –

These first two were taken when Max was only a few weeks old.

I took the next pictures last week, so Max is closer to 3 months old (already!)

And lastly – Our fall family photo.  I wish Carter would have smiled, and Max didn’t look so stressed, but such is picture taking with little kids.

Speaking of boys, they are still napping, which means I have time to go back to my “therapy.”
